Formal writing good copy.
In the year 2012 mobile phones are a massive part of our society. They are used by a huge variety of outlets.. such as businesses or families. However.. some people would argue that mobile phones aren’t what they’re cracked up to be- in fact they apparently control peoples lives. This formal writing assignment is to negate against said statement.. and convince you to believe that mobile phones do not control people’s lives. The factors I believe play a large part in my arguments are as follows:
Mobile phones are only addicting to people who are weak against addiction
Mobile phones are only a means of communication.. nothing else
Mobile phones are a piece of plastic.
The statement of “Mobile phones control people’s lives” leads me to believe that it is a metaphor.. meaning that mobile phones are addicting.
Mobile phones are not very addictive whatsoever. I’d happily say that over 90% of my age group is not addicted to mobile phones. The small portion of people I do know that are “Addicted” to mobile phones check them occasionally for no reason. I would hardly count that as an addiction though.. seeing as the definition of addiction is as follows:
“Mentally and physically dependent on a particular substance.. unable to stop taking it without incurring adverse effects.”
This means that I know absolutely no-one who is addicted to mobile phones. Take that.. precarious statement!
This statement that I am arguing against also leads me to believe that mobile phones are more than just a means of communication.
They aren’t. Plain and simple. Mobile phones are simply something you talk to people with. It is ridiculous to assume that they can control ones life. It is absolutely ridiculous to believe that a means of communication can alter.. or decide for you the life choices you make. I don’t know whoever created this statement.. but they are most likely very sheltered.. and wear tin foil helmets to protect their brains from the government/alien’s rays of doom.
This statement that I have argued against finally leads me to believe that the creator of this topic thinks that mobile phones have greater power than just to send messages.. and telecommunication.
Mobile phones are mainly maid out of plastic.. thus they are not sentient.. and are incapable of having the (As the definition of “Control” instates) “The power to influence or direct people’s behavior or the course of events.” This statement makes mobile phones sound like heroin. Demonizing mobile phones to this stage will get no-one far. It’s best just to keep up with the times.. and accept the technology as it comes.
Throughout my argument I have stated that mobile phones aren’t at all addicting.. that mobile phones are just a means of communication.. nothing more.. nothing less.. and finally that mobile phones are just a piece of plastic.
In the end I hope that I have persuaded you to believe that mobile phones do not control people’s lives.

For some reasons my paragraphs do not seem to show up. There was a gap between the first "Piece of plastic" then "Precarious statement" then "Rays of doom" and finally "As it comes"
ReplyDeleteof course there was also the gap between the ending of the formal writing.. and me saying thanks.
