Macbeth Essay Draft

In William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" a event of which I consider to be a major turning point was when Macbeth meets the three witches. I thought this was a major turning point because without these three witches.. Macbeth wouldn't have gone insane from his "Vaulting Ambition"

A reason why this is such a major turning point is because the witches predict that not only will Macbeth assume the role of Thane of Cawdor.. but he will become king too! This is a turning point in more ways than one. Because this starts his previously stated "Vaulting ambition." Without Macbeth’s ambition.. he wouldn’t have killed Duncan.. or at least he would have prolonged his demise.

“All hail Macbeth.. thane of Glamis!
All hail Macbeth.. thane of Cawdor!
All hail Macbeth.. king of Scotland!”

This is evidence of the turning point.
This turning point also displays a lot of qualities of Macbeth.. helping the audience learn a bit about Macbeth and Banquo. Macbeth’s childish ways are heavily displayed throughout the play by showing his lust for power. He wants what he shouldn’t be able to have. Another demonstration of his childish ways is how much Macbeth hates losing. He goes to great extents to prove to lady Macbeth that he is a man.. instead of a “mouse.” Another point of this is he tries so hard to be king.. and kills anyone who is in his way. So much so that he would kill his best friend. I

n my opinion.. all of Macbeths negative features are amplified after the scene with the witches’ prediction. Shakespeare demonstrates that words can go a long way.. and that a small group can change a nation.

In the play of Macbeth.. there are many turning points. One of the major ones I chose to examine the turning point when the witches told Macbeth his future. Essentially this started Macbeth’s insanity.. and started his kingdom ship.. and malevolent ways.
